Wonderland Camp (October 17, 2025)

I went to Wonderland Camp at the Lake of the Ozarks during the weekend of October 17th. I saw my friends, Alyssa, Cookie, Katy, Haley, Saleena, and Megan. I was beyond happy to see them! I also met some new people, like Carter. πŸ˜‰ The weekend’s theme was Spookfest, and I was excited because I love Halloween, of course! πŸŽƒI was in Alice Hall, Cabin B. On Friday evening, we had a small campfire. We hung out and ate gooey and scrumptious s’mores. It was a nice evening.

On Saturday, it was very cloudy. When Alyssa opened the door to look outside, she looked up and said, “The clouds look so angry,” which made me chuckle. I love her goofy comments about things. πŸ€—πŸ’–Then, there was lightning and thunder, and it began to rain and hail hard. Even though I knew we would be doing indoor activities that day, I still loved the weather. It was sort of pretty. I thought the stormy day would’ve been a perfect setting for an emo and dark romance or an eerie and gory ghost story. What can I say? I’m extremely imaginative.

After breakfast, we stayed in Miller Hall and did some crafts. Alyssa and I put together and stuffed a cute witch pillow. Cookie and Katy made the ghost pillow. Then, Cookie and I decorated our trick-or-treat bags with doodles and stickers. After I was done decorating my bag, I started reading my book (I brought an Archie horror comic anthology called Chilling Adventures).

After lunch, we were in our cabin. I sat by the window and read some more of my book until my neck got tired. Then, I hung out with Alyssa, Cookie, Katy, and Saleena. We decided to watch a movie on Katy’s laptop. The afternoon was enjoyable; we watched the movie Halloween (to my surprise), ate popcorn, made bracelets, talked, and laughed at our own silliness. Even though the afternoon wasn’t filled with the usual fall camp activities, it was fun just to be with my friends.

While we waited in Miller Hall for dinner to be made, we played
Candy Land and drank soda (I always bring soda). After dinner, we then got ready for trick-or-treating and the haunted house. I dressed as Peter Pan, Alyssa dressed as Wendy Darling, Cookie dressed as Tinkerbell, and Katy dressed as a bee. Despite the rain and the cold, we had fun trick-or-treating.

The haunted house was great! I like it when they don’t sugarcoat everything. The decorations were very cool, and some ‘scarers’ were actually trying to jump out at people and scare them. There was a crazed clown (Megan). They even had Michael Myers from the Halloween movies in the haunted house. It was an awesome Michael! He had a fake butcher knife. He walked and moved like him (it was a camper, I wish I knew his name to tell him how good he was at scaring).

After the haunted house, Alyssa, Cookie, Katy, and I hung out on the couch in Miller Hall and looked through our trick-or-treat bags. While the other campers went to bed, Cookie and I stayed up late with Alyssa and Katy in Miller Hall. We talked, looked at old pictures on Alyssa’s phone, and acted like goofballs.

On Sunday, I wasn’t ready to go home, but I knew that I would be back in the summer, and Alyssa, Cookie, and Katy might visit me in December. It was a lively and rainy weekend. I got more memories to look fondly back on that weekend. Wonderland, I love.
