Shane's Nightmare
It was Halloween and it was an unusually brisk evening in Los Angeles. Inside of Shane Dawson's and Ryland Adams's house, there was absolute silliness. Ryland, Shane, and Morgan Adams were goofing around and laughing loudly while their golden lab, Uno and their husky, Honey were playfully chasing their orange cat, Cheeto around. Suddenly, there was a knock at their door. Shane expected it to be another trick-or-treater.
"Hi there," he said in his sweet, welcoming voice, opening the door and grabbing a bowl of candy, "Happy..." He stopped in mid-sentence when I saw the girl.
It was a crazed looking, teenage girl, breathing too heavily. She was wearing a black poncho. Her red hair was unkempt and her green eyes were bugging out. She was also holding a strange looking dagger. It was shaped like a cross with two blades; one blade was vertical and the other was horizontal, going across the first. There were triangle all-seeing eye symbols as well engraved on the blades and the handle.
"You shouldn't have given Jake Paul a platform," she whispered through clenched teeth, "And now...you have to die!"
"Shit," Shane thought, "an angry psycho found our fucking address!"
His phone was back in the kitchen and he didn't want the girl to run after him into the house.
"Great," he thought exasperatedly, being very aggravated with himself.
"Why don't we just...," he started to say nervously, slowly reaching for the emergency button on the security system, as his heart practically pounded out of his chest.
Then, the insane girl began staring at him intensely with her bugged out eyes and suddenly, he couldn't move his limbs. All that he could do was stand there and hold the candy bowl.
He whispered fearfully, "What the fuck is going on?!"
"You can't run now," she said with a wicked grin.
He could still speak but he didn't say anything else or scream because he didn't want Ryland and Morgan to run over to try to help and wind up getting killed too. He thought that he was going to die at that moment but he just closed his tear-filled eyes, trembling inside. Just as he was about to be stabbed in the gut, an invisible force suddenly pulled Shane back into the house, onto his back, and across the floor. Then, candy bowl flew out of his hands at the girl's head and the door slammed thunderously itself shut, locking itself. Shane always knew that this house was haunted but this was the first physical paranormal experience there.
Uno and Honey began barking aggressively at the closed door and Cheeto bolted into the laundry room. Ryland and Morgan ran to Shane as he laid there in shock, frantically asking him, "Are you okay, what happened?"
As he was trying to explain, they heard a nightmarish shriek outside. Shane quickly got up to look in the window and Ryland and Morgan followed behind him. They watched in disbelief and horror, as a pair of ghostly hands grabbed the girl's ankles, making her fall on her stomach. The hands weren't connected to a body. They were transparent-looking and just floated in the air but they now dragged the girl back down the hill. She was kicking and screaming helplessly all the way down, dropping the dagger into the pool and digging her nails into the ground.
"This can't be happening," said Morgan hysterically, "This isn't real!"
Because of his kind heart, Shane wanted to help the girl, despite her wanting to kill him just moments earlier.
"Oh my God," Shane exclaimed, going towards the door, "that girl is going to be killed!"
"She literally just tried to murder you Shane," Ryland reminded, gently but firmly grabbing his hand to stop him, "Don't go out there!"
They all silently stood at the window and watched the girl getting dragged until she was consumed by shadows, until her screams sounded muffled and far-off.
Ryland finally broke the silence and asked with a shaky voice: "Should we stay here and call the cops?"
Just then, the electric abruptly went out, which made Uno and Honey quickly join Cheeto in the laundry room.
Using Ryland's cell phone as a flashlight, Shane said with a nervous laugh: "Well, I'm going to take that as a no."
"Very good idea," said Morgan dryly, holding her own phone for light, "That's all of the Halloween fun that I can handle for one night. You guys can stay with me."
Once they packed a few bags and coaxed the terrified pets out of the laundry room, they all ran to Ryland's G-wagon and went to Morgan's place. Shane, Ryland, and the pets stayed with Morgan that night and for many weeks afterwards.
