Wonderland Camp (October 23, 2026)

During the weekend of October 23rd, I went to Wonderland Camp at the Lake of the Ozarks. It was Spooky Fest weekend! I saw my best friends, Alyssa, Cookie, and Haley. It was awesome to see them!  I was in the Brown Hall A cabin. I also met new friends: Emmi (she did a great job) and Hana (she was an incredible nurse). I was so excited to be at Wonderland!

On Friday evening, we had a campfire and a ghost talk. The ghost walk was just a walk in the dark. We carried flashlights and walked through the wooded area, searching for small paper ghosts. I was carrying Alyssa’s fake plastic skeleton, named Doug (as in “dug a hole”).

I put my flashlight between Doug’s ribs so I wouldn’t keep dropping it. The night sky was beautiful, with sparkling stars and the brightest moon. Then we had delectable, gooey s’mores. It was a good night!

On Saturday morning, we shot BB guns. Neither Alyssa nor I could aim to save our lives, lol, but it was fun. Then we went to the zipline and the wobbly bridge. On the zipline, I whooshed through the trees, probably faster than Peter Pan.

Goofing around, Alyssa carried me across the wobbly bridge while jumping. I was belly-laughing!

Then, in arts and crafts, we decorated our trick-or-treat bags. Since we ran out of bags, Alyssa had to make one for me out of paper. It worked, and it was unique!

After crafts, we had Nature. First, we searched for sticks. I made sure to pick out the weirdest-looking ones. Then we painted a purple sky on black paper and splattered stars onto it with white paint by flicking our paintbrushes. It reminded me of something Bob Ross would’ve done. Finally, we glued the sticks onto the paper to make spooky trees.

Then, after our stick art, we had archery. Again, Alyssa and I couldn’t aim, but I had a good time.

After being Robin Hood, minus the skill, lol, I climbed the rock wall. I like seeing camp from that high up. It’s pretty cool!

Next was bingo. Since I find bingo incredibly boring (sorry, not sorry, lol), Alyssa and I stayed at the cabin. We sat on the porch and talked while she did my nails. It’s nice to hang out and have some girl talk.

Later, we dressed up for trick-or-treating (hey, camp is a great place to let your inner child come out!), the hayride, and the haunted house.

I dressed as Demonic Neverland Peter Pan. It felt cool to dress up as my version of Peter from my stories. No one knew who I was, so I called him Evil Peter Pan. But I didn’t mind. I was just excited to cosplay one of my own characters!

We went around camp, trick-or-treating. The candy was better this year, but I still say they should hand out the huge candy bars!

BTW, thank you, G, and all the other church volunteers who helped that night.

Then we went on the hayride to the waterfront. I have to admit—the woods and waterfront are sort of ominous at night (I blame the Friday the 13th movies, lol).

After the hayride, we went through the haunted house. There was one line for people who didn’t want to be scared and another for those who did. Of course, I wanted to be scared!

I love that they haven’t been sugarcoating the scares in recent years. There were bloody sheets, red lighting, and animatronics. And whoever was wearing the clown mask: nice jump scares! You got me every time (and I went through three times).

Then Cookie and I hung out on the cabin’s porch, looking through our candy, chatting, and taking pictures.

On Sunday, I was tired and didn’t want to wake up. Feeling too lazy to ask someone to brush my hair, I wore my red Peter Pan hat to breakfast.

Even though I know I’ll always come back, the last day is bittersweet. I miss my family and my bed, lol, but I don’t want to leave my besties. This Halloween camp was so awesome! I can’t wait for next summer to see what kind of adventures lie ahead!

Wonderland, I love.

Smooches and think Tink!
