R.I.P. Wes Craven

Wes Craven (director, producer, writer of many horror movies) passed away yesterday after battling brain cancer. To me, he’ll always be a horror movie icon. When I watched “a Nightmare on Elm Street” for the first time is when I really, really got into horror. He was one of the people that I looked up to. We’ll miss you scaring us Wes.

Flirting with Wickedness (the video)

I turned my poem into a video and it was fun. Enjoy! The song is "Boadicea" by Enya. It's spooky, haunting tone seemed to fit with the poem.

Wonderland Camp, August 2015

I had so much fun at Wonderland Camp last week! I was in the FHB cabin this time. I saw my old friends: Dustin, Jason, Libby, Tucker, Kortney, Gianna, Nicole, Rachel, Julie, JJ, Hannah, and Scott. I also made new friends: Barbie, Dee, Emma, Lizzy, Beverly, and Melissa. On Sunday, check-in was early and Scott and his girlfriend, Robyn, came to visit me for a while. Later that evening, we had a campfire. With everyone singing bubbly camp songs in the background, Kortney and I laughed and socialized. Then, we ate my camp favorite; delicious s’mores. It was a good day.

On Monday morning, we had Art and Crafts and we tie-dyed our shirts. I tie-dyed my shirt orange and dark purple. Then, we shot bb guns for Nature. Dustin helped and it was cool. During the afternoon, we had time at the pool/splash pad. It was cold but refreshing during the hot day. After lunch and rest time, we had Free Flow (a free hour) and we went to karaoke. Everyone was clapping happily and cheering for each other. I sang “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift. It was fun. Later that evening, we built a mini boat out of the boxes and had boat races. We were loudly chanting: “FHB, FHB, FHB” as we won the boat race.

On Tuesday morning, we went down to the waterfront and rode the big boat. I didn’t sleep at all. I was having too much fun with Barbie and looking around. We saw a huge restaurant on the lake that had an amazing looking pirate ship that reminded me of Peter Pan. After rest time, we had Music. We made shell shakers out of paper and rocks and listened to music. Then, for Rec, I rode the mini zip-line. With the dirt swooshing underneath my feet, I flew across in the air. My stomach being tickled from the inside, I couldn’t stop laughing. I love that thing! Later that evening, we had a carnival. There was sweet cotton candy, vibrant music, games, a dunking booth, and even horses. The wind then picked up and it started storming at the end but it was awesome.

On Wednesday morning, Kortney, JJ, Barbie, and I went to the game room. We were laughing and telling stories. Barbie was so cool and silly. I loved hanging out with her. Then, during rest time, we watched the movie,  ‘the Little Rascals’. I’ve seen it many times but it was relaxing since it was a rainy day. In Art and Crafts, we colored and just hung out. Later that evening, the talent show began. Kortney and Hannah sang “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line. I was proud of them. I read a funny, scary story that I wrote earlier that week for my talent. The story wasn’t like what I usually write. It was short and very sugar-coated but it was for camp. It was fun to write and read. It was called ‘the Wonderland Camp Ghost Story’. The talent show was heart-warming and entertaining.

On Thursday, we had Art and Crafts and made paper turtles. While other people colored their turtles with bright colors, I tried making my turtle look demonic, coloring it black with red eyes and Barbie drawing a skull on it.  Then, for Music, we played Four Squares (like Musical Chairs) and played Music Jeopardy (music trivia). My sister would proud that I knew all of the Johnny Cash songs. After rest time, we had time at the pool/splash pad. Barbie was hilarious, singing and dancing in the water. After pool, for the rest of the afternoon, we got ready for the dance. Barbie spiked my hair into a fohawk and put winged eye shadow on me, using my purple and black eye shadows. It was so cool! She also painted my nails black and put on my favorite red lipstick. Later that evening, the dance began. I wore my favorite purple shirt, black pants, and black Mary Janes. There was a red carpet at the dinning hall’s door like a prom. There were black lights everywhere but everyone had glow sticks. The music was booming, as everyone was laughing, dancing, and singing at the top of their lungs. I danced with all of my friends and had a blast! Dance night will always be my favorite!!

On Friday, everyone was packing up to go home. Fridays are my least favorite. I am ready to go home but at the same, I don’t want to leave my friends. I don’t get too sad normally though because I know that I’ll be back in October. There will be more adventures to experience, more stories to tell. I have another bunch of memories to hold onto.

the Ghoulish Man (Re-edited)

the Ghoulish Man
By: Lena Holdman

The Ghoulish Man wore a fiery red cloak of  rage. His beard was gray, knotted, and blood stained. His face is long and wrinkled and his dark eyes were reckless and lustful from lurking each night in search of his next victim. He used to be a normal man, a kind man but he felt unloved all of his life and finally died inside.A demon of hopelessness lied to him, corrupted him. He became a walking corpse that hungers for young female souls to fill the empty hole where his heart once was.

Each night, he found girls who were barely out of their adolescence. While they were innocently sleeping, he at first watched them with sick desire. After a few moments, he then proceeded to move his ice cold, bony hands up their spines and up their necks. The girls always woke up but before they can scream, he grabbed their throats with all of his might, choking them and crushing their vocal chords. Then, taking them in his arms, he draped his cloak around himself and the girl, as if it was a private curtain and sucked all of the essence from them, leaving their lifeless bodies behind.

One night, a courageous girl named Ariel Marie with a wild spirit and strawberry blonde hair, felt his cold hand and quickly woke up and grabbed it, twisting it. He howled in agony. She had heard the stories about the Ghoulish Man and swore to herself that she wouldn’t ever be his victim. He tried furiously to get her with his

other hand but she punched him in the face, making him fly across the room and black slime that was supposed to be his blood pour out of his mouth. Then, with him laying on the ground, she kicked him in the groin repeatedly.

With such venom in her voice, she said, “You have no power over me and never will! You’re just heartless, lonely, creepy ghoul! I’m not afraid of you, I feel sorry for you. You’re so pathetic, preying on young girls!”

Feeling helpless and defeated, the Ghoulish Man then disappeared into thin air, leaving behind his cloak. She had fought back. His power was completely gone. Ariel nor did any other girl ever saw him again.

Louie Is Going To Be a Daddy!

One Direction member, Louis Tomlinson and ex-girlfriend, a stylist, Briana Jungwirth are expecting a baby. Even though they aren't a couple anymore, they're still friends and are both very excited. Any other normal person would be saying, "Congrats, that's great" but I've noticed that the media, even some Directioners are being negative and freaking out. Come on now! It's a baby!! People are supposed to celebrate about having children. Sure, it was unplanned and Louie and Briana are young but they are both adults. We should respect their privacy and just be happy for them.

Congrats Louie and Briana!!!

Happy 4th of July!

I hope that everyone had a fun 4th of July. I had a blast with my family. Even though I'm not a fan of the loud fireworks, I do know that it's a celebration of independence for this awesome country, to remember those who helped make this country a free one. Before the Declaration of Independence was even signed, John Adams envisioned fireworks as a part of the festivities. He wrote in a letter to his wife on July 3rd, 1776,

"I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more."

"Black Magic" (a Little Mix song/video)

I love the video above. Watch it and you'll see why. :)

Question time! If you could have powers, what would they be?

I would fly obviously and have telekinesis abilities (move things with my mind). I also would want to wield a magic wand. Wands are cool!

"SlenderMan" Stabbing Case Update

One of two Wisconsin girls accused of stabbing their friend so they could meet the fictional character "Slender Man" simply shrugged today before a judge ruled that she was incompetent to stand trial.
Morgan Geyser had been found not competent by two prior evaluations and today was found incompetent to stand trial by a judge. Geyser and Anissa Weier, both 12, are charged with first degree attempted murder after prosecutors said they lured their friend into the woods and stabbed her 19 times.

Geyser was seen fidgeting in her seat and playing with her hair during the hearing, even pulling a blond strand directly in front of her face at one point. She smiled while watching Weier being led out of the room.

Two mental health professionals gave testimony in the Waukesha County Courthouse today, speaking about their evaluations of Geyser before Judge Michael Bohren ruled that she is unfit to stand trial.
Dr. Brooke Lundbohm, who evaluated Geyser on June 18, 2014, said that Geyser's unusual behavior- including what she said was nonsensical rambling and inappropriate, near-hysterical laughter - contributed to her decision that Geyser is incompetent.
Lundbohm said that Geyser spoke with her at length about fictional characters she believes in including unicorns, Slender Man, and Harry Potter villain Voldemort, who Geyser reportedly called "Voldy." She added that Geyser claims that she has Vulcan Mind Control.

I'm not trying to sensationalize this case in any way. What these two girls did is horrific, unthinkable. I just wanted to state the latest facts and say that I support the survivor, Payton. I agree that she is a brave, strong girl.

I also want to say that even though I'm a CreepyPasta fanatic, I do not believe in Slender Man or believe that this kind of real violence is cool. He's fictional. Murder in real life is scary and taking someone's life or attempting to take someone's life is wrong.

If you do somehow believe in him, why would you kill for something so evil?

Also, if you're having mental issues, tell someone. Don't keep it a secret.

Wonderland Camp, June 2015

Last week, I had a blast at Wonderland Camp! I saw some of my old friends including Kortney, Jeff, Jay, Dustin, Jason, Cookie, Ann, Cynthia, Sherry (Cynthia’s mom), and Chris. I also made new friends including Kaley “Moosy”, Libby, Julie, Tucker, Gabby, Emma, Quita, Autumn, Justen, and Shelia. I was in the JCA cabin. On Sunday evening, we had a campfire. With happy singing in the background, Kortney, Libby, and I walked around camp and socialized with everyone. Then, we had delicious, gooey s’mores. It was a nice evening.

On Monday, we had Arts and Crafts then Nature. In Crafts, we tie-dyed our shirts. My shirt was dark purple and red, very cool colors. In Nature, we shot bow and arrows. It was cool. They had a special, customized compound bow for people who can’t use their hands very well.

Then that  afternoon, we had a hayride down to the water front and rode the boat.  I didn’t sleep this time. I enjoyed the water and wind on my face. We were being silly and pointing out the biggest lake houses as we passed by. In the evening, I just hung out outside and talked with friends.

On Tuesday morning, We had time at the splash pad/pool. I was obsessed with the splash pad this year. I loved getting splashed, soaked, and being surrounded by water. They put me in a shower chair and ran with me through the water. Libby said that I looked like a water nymph when I was under the water and since I’m into fairies and things, that made me laugh. In the afternoon, we had Rec. We were playing bowling, using soda bottles and a kickball. I decided to be a smart aleck and knocked over the bottles with my wheelchair. Everyone laughed.

Then I got to try the new mini zip-line. It was so awesome! It had seat for me to sit in and it felt like I was flying, my stomach doing flip-flops. I was laughing and screaming the whole time. In Nature, we then made lays out of flowers and made Moon Sand (it’s like rough feeling Play-Doh). Then that evening, we did fun obstacle courses and played games. It was a great day.

On Wednesday morning, we had splash pad/pool time. In the afternoon, we had Nature and shot arrows again. Then for Crafts, we made necklaces and colored.  For the rest of the afternoon, we practiced for the talent show.  The talent show was that evening and everyone was excited. For the show, I sang “Oops…I Did it Again” by Britney Spears, with Kortney and Autumn, while the other girls in our cabin danced behind  us. Then,  I sang “That's My Kind of a Party” by Luke Bryan, with Jeff. It was cute. The talent show was fun with so much good music and funny moments.

On Thursday morning, a group of actors from a local college came and put on a play for us. The play was about a boy who rescues a dragon from the animals on a magical island. It was adorable. It sort of reminded me of Peter Pan. In the afternoon,  we went to the splash pad/pool. I skipped Nature because I was having so much fun in the water. Later, we had Beauty Shop to get ready for the dance.

Later on, that evening, the dance began. I wore purple eye shadow, repainted my nails black, spiked my hair up, and wore a black and white dress. Music was booming and the spinning lights surrounded me in the crowded hall. I danced, sang, and laughed with all of my friends. I even got out of my chair twice to slow dance. I love dance night!

On Friday, everybody was getting ready to go home. People were signing shirts and exchanging addresses. Friday is always bittersweet. A part of me is ready to go home but another wants to stay with my friends. Camp has changed a lot since last year but it still feels like a secondary home to me. Last week was an adventure. I can’t wait until I go back!

P.S. This song was playing when we arrived and left camp. It's special for the girls in JCA.
